Steelhead Fishing..

Ok so the river is low and clear and the guys were catching lots of bulls so they were having a great day..they tell me that all of a sudden there was a giant pull, some cartwheels and some mad running to get the proof! Robert Hodgkinson from Vancouver BC came in with his son and spent a couple of days on the river with Felix and caught this beautiful doe on minnow pattern his first day..all other fish paled by comparison!

The boys had a successful day on the river this past weekend..about 15 bulls caught and released..The river was gin clear and low making it difficult to catch the elusive steelhead that they seen..

Today we had fresh snow so winter has not let go of us yet!

The downstairs bedroom is coming along. It contained tools for the last 7 years as did this back area looking towards the kitchen and laundry room to the right…
we finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!!

Dan, Bobbie and Earl and I spent our first night up at the new Fly Fishing Lodge! We had a small party, ok there was only four of us but we had a lot of fun trying out the new bar (yet to be stained, covered in plastic!).

Fishing was hot!

Nick and Danny spent a cool winter day on the river and caught these big hogs! what snow we have is melting quick, river is still low and the weather is mild for this time of year.

Nick and Dan went fishing yesterday and along the way ran into the elk…these two were perfectly in step with each other!

As many of our guests know, Dan and I go to Cuba for a getaway in November. Nothing recharges the batteries like sunshine, happy hour and friends! Havana is a beautiful city, and this shot is Park Central square with bike taxis, horse and carriages and people everywhere.

Our friends Bobbie and Earl (the water taxi guy!) come with us every year. This is our favorite watering hole the Dos Hermanos!

Dan had a great day bone fishing in the Bay of Pigs…he is totally addicted now..

The harbour is beautiful with the fishing boats and the Castle de Moro from the 15th century in the background…

Dan’s brother Roland and girlfriend Candy joined us for a week…I think we wore them out with our adventures in Havana!

We are back in the valley for Christmas, working on the new lodge while we can still get there due to lack of snow…lots of projects to keep us busy till guests start arriving in January. We hope that everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday season and hope to see you in 2012!

Sven from Germany is back!

Sven who was here in July came back for another round! Nick guided him for 6 days and they spent most of the time practicing and learning spey casting and Sven was rewarded with these beautiful coho..

Thanksgiving Diners!

With the end of the Sockeye season and the start of the Coho season here in the Pitt River the valley is full of wildlife feeding on the last of the Sockeye in preparation for winter.
In the picture a Black Bear looks up from searching a logjam for sockeye carcasses, three River Otters feast on a found sockeye carcass and a Turkey Vulture looks around from its high perch looking for its next meal. Photos by Nick Didlick
